This concept has the prerequisites:

• Gaussian distribution (The Gaussian distribution is a canonical example of a distribution that's not heavy-tailed.)
• Student-t distribution (The student-t distribution is a canonical example of a heavy-tailed distribution.)
• expectation and variance (For some heavy-tailed distributions, the variance does not exist.)
